"I don't sing because I am happy. I am happy because I sing."

Kirtan is the practice of collective chanting or group singing, usually in a community as a sing-along of bhajans, or devotional songs, and in a call-and-response style of mantra, or sacred sounds. Kirtan is most commonly known within the practice and tradition of Bhakti Yoga. Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion through song or mantra in order to transcendent our everyday consciousness towards a more celebrated, elevated state of being. Hence, singing is one of the main modes of devotional expression among bhakti circles, both personal in nature and offered as a means of communing or dialoging with the divine in an ecstatic and participatory way. To me this sounds very similar to what are and used to be the Australian Native Indigenous Songlines and I am so very passionate about kirtan, because it always leaves me feeling elevated and happy. Come and sing with me!

Sacred Sound Saturday

Mantra in the Park

On Sat, 13 Dec 2025 I am hosting another small community kirtan, this time outdoors on Stuart Island in Nambucca Heads. This small and intimate gathering is for anyone who likes to chant. Please bring a hat and perhaps a long-sleeved shirt, a cushion to sit on and of course your instruments and mantras to share with us. This is going to be magical. By donation.

Also, thanks to everyone who came to our last kirtan and made it so very special

If you would like to be part of any future kirtans, that I will be hosting in Nambucca Heads please reach out through the contact form. Thanks, I would love to sing with you.
